Not only does Yak and Yeti have fantastic (!) food, but it serves as a pillar of community on the West side of Anchorage. They employ lots of high school and college students, and the owner is incredibly supportive of young people pursuing their dreams. Oftentimes you'll find information about local scholarships and other opportunities printed out at the front counter. I study there every week and look forward to interacting with the staff, who make an effort to remember details about me. One time the owner even told me to put my phone down from across the restaurant when he knew I had an exam to be studying for. This restaurant and the people who run it are very special. If Yak and Yeti has 1 fan it's me, and if they have 0 fans I'm dead!!

Oh My YUM! Their Shapta evokes my all consuming appetite!! I must savor every single bite bc it's just so good, if there was a booth there, I'd ask for a nap and order another dish when I wake up. Oh man! I know I'm glad I don't live near by bc it'll be Shapta day everyday if it was easier access for me. I'm that weird kid who ate the same curry for a whole month and still wanted more. This Shapta fills that whole for me deep don't in my soul. Such a gentle team that takes my order and then slides the fire slip down a zipline and minutes later, I'm sitting down to enjoy that YUM!! I can't wait to go back again!! If I could sing that Joey McIntyre song "Stay the Same" it'll be dedicated to this establishment, but I'm always a little flat, unlike the Shapta here, they always hit the right notes on my taste buds... ok. I gotta stop now typing now, but Thanks for being the YUM to my TUM!!

The food! Yes, yes, yes! High scores for flavor, selection, and quality. This spot had gone straight to the top of my faves list. It’s affordable and delicious! I ordered the chicken marsala, and the yam version together, potato soup, and a small salad. Every bit tasty, and plentiful! We’ve got to keep them in business.

Unassuming place with deep, warming flavors. This restaurant, with the scent of curry filling the air as you open the door, is a local delight. The rice bowl is inexpensive and filling, and the combinations available (you can pick three flavors) are amazing. Service is fast and orders are taken at the counter. Only issue I had was that the Diet Coke was out when I went. Try the leek and potato soup and the salad, too - you won’t be disappointed here.

We love this place we come here often, there's always families with children talking and enjoying their food. The food here is amazing the only reason I gave it for stars instead of 5 is because the spices could be more intense that I'm sure they do that for other peoples pallets. Totally recommend this place and check out the Alaskan photographs on the walls.

I have been coming here for years. Usually get a vegan rice bowl a couple times a week. Which are excellent. And I really enjoy when you guys have the eggplant special. I would really like it if you made a vegan dessert If you just had one vegan item for dessert, I would’ve already given you hundreds of dollars.

Discovered this local shop today. They sale food from gyros to baked goods to rice bowls. We tried 3 different baked goods. All fresh and delicious. We added two iced chai teas. Very good and they come with a free refill. Price is decently priced too with good service. 10 outta 10 for recommend! Also tidal wave book store next to them. So come get your food and drinks and check out the local book store!

I always love coming to Yak&Yeti when the weather is chilly. The rice bowls always warm me up and the flavor is always on point. This is the Yam Tikka Masala.

We had an amazing time and food at Yak and Yeti cafe. This is a family run food joint that offers home style food options. Owner and chef Dorjee and Maia were humble and had magic of Indian tastes in his food. They were able to adjust to our requests and food was fast and best we could have had. Amazing tasting homemade ice creams as well. Must try, if you are visiting ancourage, Alaska.
